VOLUNTEER AGREEMENT AND RELEASE OF LIABILITY
Community Synergy Solutions Corp.

Volunteers must be 18 or older. Community Synergy is not currently set up to take volunteers under 18.

What you will be doing. Community Synergy volunteers work outdoors and with their hands. Depending on the guild, that can mean garden and farm work, moving and stacking rock for watershed and erosion work, natural building with adobe, cob, and straw bale, and setting up and running community events.

What that work involves. This work carries a real risk of injury. It includes, and is not limited to:

Hand tools and power tools
Lifting, carrying, and placing heavy material, including rock and stone, which can shift, roll, drop, or pinch
Loading and unloading rock and other material from trucks
Ladders, scaffolding, and working above the ground
Digging and trenching
Uneven, sloped, or loose ground, including washes and drainages
Heat, sun, and dehydration
Dust, silica, pollen, thorns, and plant matter
Insects, snakes, and other animals
Driving to and from work sites, including unpaved rural roads
Tents, canopies, crowds, and vehicle traffic at events

Injuries from this kind of work range from minor to serious. In rare cases they can be permanent or fatal. Community Synergy does not promise that any site or activity is safe.

You are choosing to be here. You are volunteering by your own choice. You accept these risks, both the ones listed above and the ones nobody thought to list.

Your health and your coverage. You are responsible for your own medical care and any cost that comes with it. Community Synergy does not provide health insurance for volunteers. If you have a medical condition, allergy, or limitation we should know about, put it on this form or tell the person leading the activity.

Release. You are responsible for your own medical care and any cost that comes with it. In exchange for the opportunity to volunteer, you agree not to bring a claim against Community Synergy Solutions Corp., its board members, staff, volunteers, and partners for injury, illness, or property loss arising from volunteering, including injury caused by ordinary negligence. This does not release anyone for gross negligence, recklessness, or intentional harm, and it does not waive any right that Arizona law does not permit to be waived.

Speak up. If something looks unsafe, stop and say so. You can decline any task, for any reason, at any time, and nobody will hold it against you.

Governing law. Arizona law governs this agreement. If any part of it is found unenforceable, the rest remains in effect.
