Our History · Founded 2014

Twelve years of programs, partnerships, and community infrastructure.

More than a decade of programs, physical infrastructure, and grassroots relationships built across Cochise County and the US/Mexico border region.

2014 – Present
Bisbee Community Gardens
CSSC’s founding flagship. A neighborhood garden network offering local food production, sustainability education, job training, and community wellness programming for Bisbee residents and the surrounding region.
Est. 2014
Tin Town Ecoasis Sustainable Living Center
A locally sourced food market, grab-and-go cafe, plant nursery, and on-site education and employment hub at 99 S. Hwy 92 — built and managed by CSSC as a working demonstration of community-scale sustainable economics.
2015 – 2019
Bisbee Health Expo
Annual public health and wellness events connecting Cochise County residents to preventive health resources, sustainability education, and community partners — bringing together local government, nonprofits, and businesses around shared community health goals.

Our Structure: Guilds

The guilds are how Community Synergy gets things done. Each draws from board members, community volunteers, and partner liaisons — organized around one domain, one piece of the work.

Land & Water
Watershed stewardship, land acquisition, conservation — caring for what we all depend on.
Natural Building
Owner-builder support, natural construction workshops, community center development.
Food & Growing
Growers’ hub, front-yard gardens, community farms — food grown by and for Cochise County.

Woven into everything — events, gatherings, healing, and the culture that holds the work together.

The center of the wheel — holding strategy, policy, finances, and the connections between guilds.

The community layer — making space for people to find the guilds, follow the work, and stay connected to Community Synergy.
Partnerships

You don’t need your own nonprofit.

Community Synergy can be the legal and financial home behind your work — 501(c)(3) status, fund management, and infrastructure so you stay focused on what you do.

Partners also connect directly into our guild network and community relationships across Cochise County.

Where This Is Going

A ten-year arc.

A decade of programs is the foundation. Now we are accelerating — seating the full board, forming the guilds, and scaling what we’ve learned into county-wide reach. By year two, the first community builds take shape and the Anchor Farm is in sight. By year ten, a community that can feed itself, build for itself, and take care of its own.

Now — 2026

Active board. Six working guilds forming. Front-yard gardens launching now. Watershed conservation crew organizing. Fall Equinox Concert in the works. Twelve years of programs behind us — we’re building on a real foundation.

What people want to know.

Is Community Synergy active right now?
Yes. We have an active board of directors and six working guilds meeting regularly. Programs are in development for 2026 and beyond. We’re not a legacy org collecting dust — we’re building.
Can I get involved?
Yes. Take the community survey and use the Stay Connected section at the end to tell us how you want to participate — volunteering, guild membership, or staying on our mailing list.
What is fiscal sponsorship?
It’s a formal arrangement where your project operates under Community Synergy’s 501(c)(3) umbrella. You keep control of your work and mission. We provide the legal and financial structure that lets you apply for grants and accept tax-deductible donations without incorporating separately. Learn more about partnership.
